Magdalene College

Fine art photography of the Pepys Library, Magdalene College Cambridge presented as part of the large Illuminating Cambridge Libraries series. One of the gems of Cambridge, the Pepys Library at Magdalene College dates back to 1700. It’s collection is from Samuel Pepys, the noted diarist who lived around the time of the Great Fire of London. The library contains his personal collection of books and manuscripts shelved in hand built bookcases, and was left to Magdalene College with explicit instructions to keep the books ordered by size (see ‘Books I‘ below).

This photographic collection of the Pepys Library at Magdalene College Cambridge was photographed in 2017 and contains 33 images, a small selection of which are shown below and available as giclee prints in many sizes.

Created and presented with thanks to the librarians and by kind permission of the Master and Fellows of the College. Click here to learn more about the library.
