Four Muses: Mathematica, Wren Library, Trinity College Cambridge
Mathematica, one of the four academic ‘muses’ who grace the top of the Wren Library, Trinity College Cambridge. Her gaze is turned slightly towards the other three muses. While all four muses have a lightning rod, Mathematica was the only one who seemed to want hers on show. The roof of the Wren Library is visible in the background. The four muses are at the edge of the roofline – and the photograph was made possible while up on scaffolding that was erected to replace some roof panels. View all four muses: Divinity, Justice, Medicine, and Mathematica.

Designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1695, the Wren Library is one of the great masterpieces of Cambridge. Tall windows flank both sides of the long room, making it a light and airy space. The 5m tall window at the end (see ‘Window‘) depicts Isaac Newton being presented to King George III with Francis Bacon recording. The bookcases are adorned with wood carvings by Grinling Gribbons (see ‘E‘) and marble busts. Of particular interest are first editions of Isaac Newton’s Optics and Principia that Newton himself hand-annotated (see ‘Newton’s books‘ for the shelf, or ‘Optics and Principia‘ for the detail).

Archival Pigment Prints
Archival pigment prints are museum quality pieces made by the artist in her own studio. Paper is smooth matte, archival, 100% cotton, 308gsm Hahnemuhle FineArt Photo Rag fine art paper. Ink is high end pigment-based and long-lasting (the company claims 400 years!). Note prints will not show the watermark.
Due to the wide variety of screens, the colours on your screen may differ slightly from colours in the print. If you’re concerned, please get in touch first and I can send you a colour sample in advance.
Editioning
A5 and A4 prints are artist-printed and signed open editions (not limited).
A3 and A2 prints are also artist-printed and signed. Each of these prints is a numbered limited edition, out of 150 for each size. Note two Artist’s Editions of each size are retained by the photographer.

Prints have a small white (paper) margin around the printed picture.

Framing
Frames supplied by the artist are as specified and shown above. The frames offered differ for each piece based on what the artist thinks will be a great frame for that particular piece. If you want a set of images framed in the same way, just get in touch to discuss requirement before purchase.
The artist prefers a wide 100mm mount for nearly each piece to allow adequate breathing room for the artwork.
